Bachelor in Applied Material Sciences

Today there is not a single technical product, machine or system that can work without high-tech materials. The use of innovative materials means more power, longer life cycles, lower costs and a considerate use of natural resources.

If you want to get to the heart of matter in order to utilise materials for developing sophisticated technology, you have come to the right place: future engineers studying Applied Material Sciences are joining a multi-faceted and exciting field. This field includes developing new materials as much as selecting and processing materials in construction and manufacturing or when operating systems and plants.

Graduates of this programme will gain profound fundamental knowledge which will act as a door opener for excellent jobs in almost all sectors of industry as well as in testing and examination facilities and in the public sector.

The practice-focused Bachelor programme of Applied Material Sciences focuses on four key aspects: manufacturing, processing, testing and applying materials. This study programme was developed in close collaboration with industry leaders such as ThyssenKrupp Steel and Deutsche Edelstahlwerke. Graduates can continue and do a Master degree in Material Engineering and Industrial Heritage Conservation.

THGA is a state-accredited university and does not charge tuition fees. The only contribution due is a small fee for the use of university facilities and public transport in NRW.
