  • Studium der Elektrotechnik mit Schwerpunkt "Datenverarbeitung" an der Universität Karlsruhe und TU München (1983-1988)
  • Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universität Mainz und Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Promotion zum Doktor-Ingenieur im Bereich "Neuroinformatik" und "Technisches Sehen" (1988-1993). Forschungsaufenthalt am Computer Science Department der University of Rochester, USA (1991).
  • Mitgründer und Geschäftsführer der C-VIS Computer Vision und Automation GmbH (1992-1997). Schwerpunkte: Videobasierte Gesichtserfassung und -erkennung mit Multiprozessorsystemen (Innovationspreis '94 des Fördervereins Technologietransfer Bochum e.V., Europäischer Informationstechnologie-Preis 1996 des Europäischen Rates für Angewandte Wissenschaften und Ingenieurwissenschaften),  Optische Vermessung in der Automatisierung, Multimedia-Roboter,  Videobasiertes, automatisches Fahren für Automobile
  • Projektleiter und Systemarchitekt bei der Vodafone Information Systems GmbH (1997-2003). Projekte: Deutschlandweites Echtzeit-System zur Verkehrsanalyse und –information, Automatisierte, verteilte Erzeugung und Verwaltung von Logistik-Dokumenten, Bereitstellung und Integration von Abrechnungs- und Logistik-Diensten bzw. -Systemen für hochverfügbare Shop-Applikationen.
  • Seit 2003 Professor an der TH Georg Agricola.
